    Intel® Optane™ DC Persistent Memory is an innovative new solution that will move larger amounts of data closer to the CPU so it can be accessed, processed, and analyzed in real time without first being retrieved from storage. It is comparable to DDR4 DRAM at low latencies. Additionally, it will have higher capacity and data persistence features typically found in NAND SSDs. This means customers can keep more data closer to the CPU for faster processing, and that data will remain in memory when the system is power cycled.

     

     

    Bridging the gap

    Memory is great from a performance standpoint but it's expensive and limited. Storage excels from a capacity standpoint and is relatively inexpensive, but it lacks the performance of memory. Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory is positioned between the memory and storage layers and can be used as a memory alternative that combines the best of both. Applications that were once starved for memory can now thrive, producing faster results.

     

    Flexible solution

    Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory provides flexibility in how this solution allows users and systems designers to expand memory in the most optimal manner. Optimizations can be based on the application requirements and the characteristics of performance, capacity, persistency, and costs. For example, persistent memory modules, in combination with standard DIMMs, can be deployed as volatile memory of much larger and more affordable capacity with no code modification required. Alternatively, applications can be programmed to leverage memory persistence and achieve faster insights from data.
